The new Ed Smith ELS16 medium hard vibe mallet from Malletech has a complex, multi-layered construction that creates the "sweet sound spot". Vibe mallets tend to be eiither too hard and clanky at high volume or lacking in definition and clarity at low dynamics. These shortcomings were engineered out of the sound through a two-year process of research and development which combines three internal core components and a two-layered winding program.
