DrumsandDroids R214X5 14 x 5" 3D Printed Snare Drum
This unique snare drum is made using PTEG plastic which is more durable and heat resistant than standard 3D printing plastic (PLA). Just like most drums, we don't recommend leaving this drum in a car during the summer (especially in TX). It is recommended to keep PETG products below 230º F but it's best not to push it. All the holes for the drum are built into the model and not drilled which could weaken the shell.
General Points/Features:
- Round over top and bottom bearing edges. The bottom is fully rounded while the top is rounded .05" from the outside edge and .25" from the inside edge. The builder finds that rounding the edges in a plastic drum eliminates some of the ring.
- Two 1/2" vent holes
- Gibraltar throw off
- Puresound Snare Wires
- Remo Coated Ambassador Batter Head and Remo Clear Ambassador Snare Side Head
- The Blue Ring is pure aesthetic and does not affect the sound
- 3d prints are generally not completely solid, after a few solid layers on the the bottom, the inside parts of the print are printed using infill, basically a grid or honeycomb pattern on the inner parts of the shell. The top and bottom half inch of this drum are printed completely solid with no infill, the rest is printed with a 30% infill inside of a 1.6mm wall thickness. Having the top and bottom half inch completely solid gives the shell additional strength and acts like an internal reinforcement ring.
