LATIN PERCUSSION LP265A 11" QUINTO HEAD - RAWHIDE
LP is the leader in Latin percussion instruments, and is recognized the world round for its quality and sound. Make sure you get your authentic LP265A for your drum. Note that bongo heads are not universal, and each drum requires a specific head. The LP265A head fits LP 11" LP Branded Quintos/congas (not Matador, Aspire, Performer, Cosmic, or City). If you are unsure of what head to order, please give us a call and we'll be happy to help you!
NOTE: This drumhead will not fit any other manufacturers bongos. Please call for support when ordering bongo heads if you are not 100% sure you know which head you need.
Installation:
All skin heads (bongo, conga, djembe, etc.) require soaking before installation. This soaking allows the heads to seat cleanly and tightly to the bearing edge of the drum. Not soaking the head may result in cracking, deformation, poor sound quality, and premature head failure. To soak the head, simply place the head upside down (flesh hoop up) on a tray. Fill the inside of the head half way (do not dunk the head) with room temperature water. Add water to the tray to soak the outside of the head at the same water level as the inside. Allow the head to soak until the skin is pliable. Soaking too long may cause the head to release from the flesh hoop. We recommend checking bongo heads every 15-minutes (soaking times of usually 30 minutes to 2 hours), and conga heads each hour (soaking times of 1.5-12 hours). Once the head has softened, dry it with a towel and place it on the drum. Install the hoop and tension rods. Tighten the tension rods until the lug is flush with the bottom of the nut. Allow the drumhead to dry for 24-48 hours (bongo heads) or 48-96 hours (conga heads) before tuning them to perform.
