About the Instructor
Mark D'Ambrosio
Mark D’Ambrosio works at the intersection of acoustic percussion and cinematic atmosphere. Based in Colorado but frequently in transit, his compositions use the handpan as a lens to explore texture, space, and depth. The result is a sound that is less about the instrument itself and more about the emotional resonance left in its wake.
Having performed across Europe, Asia, and North America, D’Ambrosio has developed a reputation for a disciplined, singular approach to sound. His live sets—ranging from small, intimate performances, to expansive festival environments—are focused on the raw, unadorned qualities of the handpan, occasionally punctuated by subtle electronic nuance.
Beyond his solo output, he is the founder of PlanetHandpan.com and Steel Mountain Handpan Gathering, initiatives dedicated to the global cultivation and evolution of the handpan instrument.
