About Dr. Tim Feerst

Dr. Tim Feerst is a distinguished percussionist and educator hailing from Northern Virginia. He is currently the Director of Percussion Studies and Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Northern Colorado, where he teaches Applied Percussion Lessons, and directs the Percussion Ensemble. Dr. Feerst holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance from the University of North Texas, with additional degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and George Mason University.

With a career that spans both performance and academia, Dr. Feerst has served on the faculties of several institutions, including the University of Texas Permian Basin and the University of Utah. As a performer, he has been praised for his exceptional timpani technique and has played with ensembles such as the Cheyenne Symphony, the Greeley Philharmonic, and So Percussion. His recording credits include work with The Dallas Winds and Ryan Anthony & The Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

An advocate for new percussion music, Dr. Feerst has commissioned and premiered works by leading composers and is actively involved in the Percussive Arts Society. His professional endorsements include Pearl Drums, Vic Firth, and Zildjian Cymbals.
