Josh Beyers

Josh Beyers earned his Bachelor of Music degree in jazz performance from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in 2013 and furthered his education with a Master of Music degree in jazz studies from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in 2015. Hailing from Illinois, he has been imparting his knowledge on the snare drum and drum set through lessons since 2008. His experience extends to coaching high school marching drumlines and jazz band rhythm sections, alongside running a comprehensive private drum set studio.

Beyers' performance career is extensive, having played across the United States and internationally in Trinidad, Taiwan, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. His collaborations include esteemed artists like Chris Potter, Clay Jenkins, and Charles McPherson, among others. His dedication to his craft is also evident in his private studies with drum luminaries such as Jeff Hamilton and Matt Wilson.

During his tenure at UNC, Beyers was mentored by Jim White and had the opportunity to play in a concert with UNC’s Lab Band I under the guest direction of Patrick Williams. He also showcased his talent with the Downbeat Award-winning Vocal Jazz Group, Vocal Lab, at the 2015 UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival.

Currently based in Denver, Beyers holds the position of General Manager at Denver Percussion, where he oversees rentals, sales, and the organization of clinics. He actively fosters a sense of community through teaching and remains engaged in the local music scene. His ongoing performance career sees him entertaining audiences throughout Colorado's north range.
